What's new in our #MDWB's World of Wine?

Here at Nectar we never stop looking for new and exciting products to keep your bars refreshed, and it's no different when it comes to wine! Our range continues to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our customers and ensure we've got right wines for you.

For me one of most exciting new additions has to be the 2014 Classic Cuvee from the Langham Wine Estate. Only launched as a commercial venture in 2009 the team at Langham have wasted no time in producing some absolutely stunning English Sparkling Wine. Based in Dorset their south facing Crawthorne vineyard is perfect for ripening the tradition champagne varieties (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier) which are then all picked by hand. Unlike some of industry's bigger players (you know who you are) all the grapes that go into Langham's wine are grown by the team on-site before entering their own winery - this level of care and attention to detail shines through in wine. If that's not enough for you their low intervention approach means all their wines are vegan to boot!

The Classic Cuvee 2014 is bursting with red apple and brioche flavours made from a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Barrel fermentation and ageing adds richness and depth. Aged for 24 months on yeast lees and 6 months on cork before release. Delicious!

If fizz isn't your thing how about a funky red from Germany?

The Schnaitmann Spatburgunder is not only incredibly fun to say but also incredibly enjoyable to drink! Known as Pinot Noir in the rest of the world, Spatburgunder is Germany's leading red grape variety - and in my opinion deserves just as much attention as their more famed Rieslings. Light in body but firmly structured, with wonderful earthy cherry notes this wine definitely gives those Red Burgundies a run for their money.

Or how about one for the wine geeks?

Gun Dog Estate Wild Semillion is a cracking wine from Australia's Hunter Valley. Made using ambient yeast (the yeast that naturally grows on grapes in the vineyard) and with a portion of the grapes fermented on their skins in the trendy "orange" wine style it's super aromatic, offering lemongrass, peach and some herbal tea notes. A little bit of residual sugar balances Semillion's natural searing acidity making it an incredibly moreish wine - and at 9.5% abv you can have that second glass even on a school night!
