New to our shelves this month is Fortaleza's Añejo Tequila and Reposado Tequila. Although they officially launched in 2005, they have 140 years of tequila-making behind them - the first distillery was originally founded in 1873, in the town of Tequila, in Mexico's western state of Jalisco, by the current founder's great-great-great grandfather Don Cenobio.
The family's passion for tequila can be seen throughout their history - having helped to solidify tequila as the national drink of Mexico, the family also helped to establish the Denomination of Tequila.
The business was sold in 1976, but the family kept the land with the distillery. Heartbroken when his grandfather sold the company, the current founder, Guillermo, who still had a love and a passion for tequila, began to making the spirit in the same way it was made over 100 years ago.
Whilst the family has always pushed the tequila industry forward, they're looking back by using traditional and artisanal methods to produce the best tequila they can.
