Marrying Oriental and Western Traditions

Published: 22 Oct 2019

The Kaikyo Distillery (named after the Akashi-Kaikyo bridge that lies at the foot of the distillery) is located near Akashi, a city located in southern Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan, on the Seto Inland Sea west of Kobe.

New to our shelves this month, their 135 East Gin marries Oriental and Western traditions in a harmonious manner both in the gin and on the label which shows early 20th Century people in Hyogo, on the 135 Meridian embracing Western attire whilst retaining their national identity. This Gin embraces a traditional London Dry Gin with a discernibly Japanese approach incorporating Cedar Wood, Shiso Leaf, Chrysanthemum, Sansho Pepper and of course Yuzu in its botanicals.
