Grape info: Highly prized for it intense aromatics, Touriga Nacional forms the basis of most vintage ports, conferring plenty of colour, tannin and age-worthy potential. Touriga Franca adds a perfumed elegance while Tinta Roriz provides firmness, length and finesse.
About: Founded in 1670 by two Englishmen, William Burgoyne and John Jackson, by the close of the 18th century, Warre’s had become one of the leading companies and today is consistently rated amongst the best in blind tastings.
Tasting note: Very deep crimson colour. Rich fresh herbal aromas of gum cistus. Penetrating taste of vibrant blackberry flavours, very spicy with an abundance of tannins and sweetness conveying enormous complexity of favours. Powerful combination of freshness, elegance and a long firm finish.
