Domaine Durand Sancerre Rose

Sweetness: Dry

Grape: Pinot Noir

Grape info: More famous for its role in Burgundy and Champagne, small quantities of Pinot Noir are also grown in Sancerre to make the eponymous red and rosé wines. Its rosés are typically youthful, fresh and occasionally mineral with notes of red berry fruits.

About: Founded in 1962 the Durand estate eventually expanded to include 43 hectares of vines: 33 in and around Sancerre with a further ten in Menetou-Salon. Working in the principle of minimum intervention and with the utmost respect for the environment, wines are made with great care in-situ and have established the domaine’s excellent reputation.

Tasting note: A nose of fresh fruits: cherries, strawberries, orange zest, and melon aromas. The palate is fresh and lively with notes of red currant and blood orange with a hint of minerality on the finish.

Character: Youthful, strawberries, citrus
