Grape info: Spain’s most planted white variety and producer of some of its most venerable whites, Macabeo is widely grown throughout much of the country, producing lightly aromatic, floral wines that respond well to oak aging.
About: Bodegas Faustino Rivero Ulecia was founded in 1889 as the original winery of the Marqués del Atrio group in Rioja. Now fifth-generation producers, the family has dedicated itself to cultivating, producing and selling great wine for more than a century.
Harvested from low-yielding, old vines ensuring good flavour concentration in the grapes.
Tasting note: A nose of white fruit with tropical nuances. The palate is lively and aromatic with notes of lemon verbena, lime zest and a hint of hazelnut. Fresh and well-balanced with a bracing acidity.
