Wines
Sweetness: Dry
Grapes: Grenache Noir, Cinsaut, Vermentino
Grape info: With an attractive herby, spicey character, Grenache lends itself very well to rosé production. As does Cinsaut, adding a naturally aromatic, perfumed dimension, all balanced with apricot, peach and apple notes from the Vermentino.
About: Situated in the heat of Provence, Chateau d’Esclans was acquired in 2006 by Sacha Lichine who’s stated aim is to create nothing less than the greatest rosés in the world.
Grapes are pressed under nitrogen to prevent oxidation. The press determines various grades of juice that are sent for fermentation either in barrel or stainless steel. Wines are then blended to maintain a consistent style before bottling.
Tasting
Note: Pale
pink with fresh red berry fruits and floral hints. Ripe and fleshy on the
palate with a great concentration and a smooth, strawberries-and-cream finish.
