Tenute Pieralsi Nativo Verdicchio

Sweetness: Dry

Grape: Verdicchio

Grape info: Probably Italy’s greatest native white varietal, Verdicchio is one of only a few capable of prolonged aging and with a genuine affinity for oak. Younger examples tent to be floral and fruity whilst older ones develop flinty aromas reminiscent of Riesling or Carricante.

About: Since establishing their winery in Marche in 1976, the Pieralisi family have striven to create the very best from their vineyards. The 350-hectare estate now consists of around 103 ha of prime vineyard in and around Maiolati Spontini, Ancona, the heart of the classic production area of Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. The ‘Tenute Pieralisi’ range of wines represents the culmination of their project; a top tier of premium wines asserting the individuality of Verdicchio.

Fermentation is carried out with native yeasts in stainless-steel tanks. The wine ages for around 5 months on the lees before bottling.

Tasting note: Aromas of citrus with tropical, and some more savoury, notes. The palate is taut and textural, with mineral characters balanced by hints of grapefruit and pineapple. Bright acidity leads to a lightly honeyed, crisp finish.

Character: Grapefruit, pineapple, honey
