Grape info: Though indigenous to France, Sauvignon’s unique aromatic profile has seen it successfully transplanted all over the world to become the third most cultivated variety, behind only Chardonnay and Airén. Its enduring popularity is down to its distinctive, multi-layered combination of youthful, ‘green’ flavours matched with a keen acidity, capable of producing wines of real substance.
About: A small, family-owned winery based in the stunningly beautiful Marlborough region of New Zealand. Nautilus began making wines in 1985 and aim to craft delicious, food-friendly wines from the clean, cool and diverse valleys of Marlborough.
Tasting note: An intense nose of gooseberry, passionfruit and cut grass. Citrus and tropical fruit dominate the clean, refreshing palate showing a characteristic intensity and keen acidity.
