Kombucha is a delicious dose of goodness for your gut, low in sugar and packed full of naturally occurring antioxidants, vitamins, enzymes and amino acids.
Essentially it is a living, nutrient rich drink that not only tastes amazing but also happens to have beneficial properties that have been proven to help digestion, increase energy, detoxify the organs and balance blood sugar levels.
It dates back 2500 years to the ancient Chinese. In its simplest form, kombucha is a blend of tea, water, sugar, and a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). These ingredients are left to ferment in a warm environment for a period of time, leaving you with a delicious, refreshing and nutrient dense drink.
In a nutshell that's what kombucha is, and it's why there is such a buzz around the product at the moment as customers are increasingly looking for healthy lifestyle options.
Jarr, headed up by Adam Vanni, describe themselves as folks dedicated to getting people to change their perceptions about fizzy drinks because it is quite unusual. They have a product that is very adult, punchy but also incredibly delicious which needs to be tried!
There has been a lot of dedication in sourcing the ingredients; organic cane sugar from Brazil and organic loose leafed tea sourced from two single estates in Sri Lanka and Taiwan. The three variants are carefully made in Hackney Wick by hand in very small batches, where every attention is made to produce delicious tasting drinks. It is still a relatively new venture with just a few years under their belts, but they have certainly grabbed the attention of some very prestigious names. You will see Jarr on the shelves of Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Soho House to name but a few.
