Nestled in the heart of the Swartland wine region of South Africa, Riebeek Valley Wine Co was established in 1941 by local farming families who stood together to build something lasting for the Riebeek community.

More than 80 years later, their passion for this unique landscape and for the people of the Riebeek Valley is evident.

All their wines are vegan-friendly and produced with the principles of sustainable, conscious production. They continuously manage and improve their processes to achieve the highest levels of environmental and social certification: IPW, WIETA & FSSC certifications.

Their sustainable initiatives include composting all wineskins and stalks; a large-scale worm farm for natural soil enrichment; solar energy; water recycling throughout the cellar; as well as glass & paper recycling that supports other community projects.

Investing in people is also high on their priority list. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of the full training programs available to all staff. These programmes have turned cellar workers into winemakers; an admin clerk into a tasting room manager; a storeman into a sales exec ...and many more transformations in progress. Through training and upskilling, they aim to improve the lives of their employees and so touch the greater Riebeek community.

The Swartland wine region is home to low-yielding bush vines, that produce wine with distinct character, concentration, length & texture. The OLD VINE PROJECT of South Africa recognises the importance of caring for these vineyards to enable them to grow to a healthy, productive old age, producing a sustainable farming model, and wine with unique character. Riebeek Valley Wine Co has 75+ ha vineyards registered with the project. Their Valde Chenin Blanc Reserve is certified with the OLD VINE PROJECT and crafted from a certified heritage vineyard planted in 1986. Each bottle carries the 'Certified Heritage Vineyard' seal as a guarantee of authenticity. Its an elegant, aromatic, and richly textured wine with a good natural acidity that balances out the texture and mid-palate. The nose offers delicate stone fruit aromas with a hint of citrus with a flinty, layered finish.

The warm climate of the Riebeek Valley and rich 'Koffieklip' soils, contribute to a Pinotage wine with expressive fruit character and soft, supple tannins. Riebeek Pinotage offers bright plums and cherries with a touch of spice on a smooth, lingering finish making this a popular style of Pinotage that pairs well with an array of dishes or enjoyed as a glass on its own.

Similarly, Pinotage's bright red fruit aspect is very well suited to elegant, crisp rose wine. Riebeek Pinotage Rosé is elegant and vibrant. The Pinotage vineyards are specifically farmed for producing Rosé. The berries are fuller and juicier and harvested at a naturally lower pH to produce a light, lively wine. Using only free-run juice with minimum skin contact ensures a light pink hue and a burst of red berry flavours. The wine is stored on the fine lees to preserve the vibrant strawberries and ripe cherries, that is balanced by a fresh, dry finish.
