England isn't necessarily the first country you'd think of for producing good red wine, especially pinot noir, which is pretty hard to grow anywhere. The Bolney Estate in Sussex have turned this on its head - their award-winning, fragrant, medium-bodied and complex pinot noir knocks the socks off many Burgundy-grown variants!
Bolney Estate believe in quality, from the vineyard to the winery, therefore all of their wines are hand made with care. We not only hold the aforementioned excellent pinot noir but also their tasty Lynchgate Red and White.
Head to Dorset and you'll find Furleigh Estate, where four years of careful planning and investment has transformed the former dairy farm into a modern and productive vineyard and winery.
Extremely proud that all their wine is made at Furleigh Estate from their own grapes, their white wines are light and crisp, just right to have with the fish served at many local restaurants. Whilst Sea Pink, is their very popular still rosé wine, full of juicy wild strawberry flavours and perfect for barbecues and other summer drinking.
Chapel Down make world class wine, they own vineyards across Kent but also source fruit from Essex to Hampshire to ensure consistency and that the risks of crop failure through frost and climate are reduced.
Why England? The white cliffs of Dover. Iconic chalk soil, the same as that of Champagne just 90 miles to the south... makes for world-class sparkling wines, aromatic white wines and elegant light red wines, without the baggage of 350 years of rules, with its eye firmly on the needs of today's consumer, and the most modern viticulture and winemaking.
To name drop a few people they supply (and show off their prestige)... Chapel Down are an official supplier to No 10 Downing Street, are the official sparkling wine of the Oxford & Cambridge Boat Races, the first English wine to be served at Ascot racecourse. They are the first English wine producer to feature in the London Stock Exchange's '1000 Companies to Inspire Britain' and the directory of 'Cool Brands™ 2016/17'.
