Grape: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Cabernet Sauvignon

Grape info: All three varieties are grown principally in Veneto and Lombardy, made famous for their starring roles in the wines of Valpolicella and Amarone. Typically showing notes of violet, red cherry, blackberry and dried herbs, Corvina’s fine but somewhat sparse tannins are compensated by Corvinone’s meaty structural body. Rondinella provides a brilliant herbaceous note.

About: Since the purchase of their first vineyard in Valpolicella in 1898, Sartori have dedicated themselves to the production of some of Verona’s foremost DOCs: Valpolicella, Bardolino and Soave.

Fruit for the Amarone is dried prior to fermentation in the ‘appassimento’ method. This concentrates their flavours and sugars, producing a full-bodied highly alcoholic wine that is aged for a minimum of two years on oak before bottling and release.

Tasting note: A nose of stewed fruit, plum jam and woodland strudel introduce a heady palate of damson, cherry and kirsch, melded with cedar and spice. Muscular and weighty whilst retaining a great freshness and balance.
