Grape info: A native of Croatia (Tribidrag), Primitivo has been successfully transplanted to a number of regions around the world, most notably California, where it’s known as Zinfandel. Its Italian home is Puglia where it makes, rich, full-bodied, alcoholic wines with aromas of stewed fruit, dried herbs and tobacco.

Info: Founded in 2000 in northern Puglia by Domenico Demaio and Vincenzo de Matteo, Teanum was created to showcase the rich winemaking heritage of the region's 'Head of Puglia'. Today, the winery farms 150 hectares across seven estates, combining a fully integrated supply chain with sustainable vineyard practices. Specialising in both indigenous and international grape varieties, Teanum produces authentic wines that express the character of Puglia while bringing the region's traditions to wine lovers in more than 30 countries worldwide.

Tasting note: Rich and generous, this Primitivo is packed with ripe blackberry, plum and black cherry flavours, enhanced by hints of sweet spice and cocoa. Smooth tannins and a rounded texture lead to a warm, lingering finish. Careful temperature-controlled fermentation preserves the fruit's intensity while a short period of oak maturation adds complexity and balance.
