Chateau Oumsiyat Assyrtiko
Chateau Oumsiyat Assyrtiko
Sweetness: Dry
Grape(s): Assyrtiko
Grape info: Assyrtiko is Greece's flagship white grape, famed for its vibrant acidity, mineral character and remarkable ability to retain freshness in warm climates. Originating on the volcanic island of Santorini, it produces wines with citrus and stone fruit flavours, saline complexity and excellent ageing potential, making it one of the Mediterranean's most distinctive varieties
Info: Founded in Mount Lebanon and now farming 78 hectares in the Bekaa Valley, Château Oumsiyat’s vineyards lie at over 1,000 metres between the Lebanon and Anti-Lebanon mountain ranges.
Produced from 95% Assyrtiko and 5% Sauvignon Blanc, the grapes are hand-selected, gently pressed and cool-fermented in stainless steel at 14–16°C using selected yeasts. No malolactic fermentation is employed to retain the variety's natural acidity and precision. Lightly filtered before bottling.
Tasting note: Pale straw in colour, this high-altitude Assyrtiko opens with aromas of lemon zest, grapefruit, white peach and delicate blossom, underpinned by flinty mineral notes. The palate is crisp and linear, with vibrant citrus, green apple and subtle stone fruit balanced by bright acidity and a saline edge.
Character: Grapefruit, lemon, peach
