Grape info: Though indigenous to France, Sauvignon’s unique aromatic profile has seen it successfully transplanted all over the world to become the third most cultivated variety, behind only Chardonnay and Airén. Its enduring popularity is down to its distinctive, multi-layered combination of youthful, ‘green’ flavours matched with a keen acidity, capable of producing wines of real substance.
About: Founded over a century ago, Viña La Rosa is located in one of Chile’s most exciting wine regions in the Cachapoal Valley: Peumo. Today, the traditions of its founders inspire a sustainable approach to viticulture and continue to inform a terroir-based mindset where respect for the environment is paramount.
Grapes are machine harvested at night, while still cold, to preserve fresh fruit aromas and flavours. Cold-macerated on the skins to obtain the aromatics compounds from their skins. Fermented in stainless-steel to enabling the wine to develop all of its varietal potential and pronounced citrus notes.
Tasting note: Fresh and fruity, with notes of citrus, pineapple, white peaches and grapefruit, accompanied by touches of fresh herbs and wild currants. Very fresh and citric, with a pleasant acidity and a long finish.
