Duke of Clarence is a 3-year-old, rich style of madeira produced using Tinta Negra grapes, the islands only red grape variety. Made using the ‘Estufagem’ system whereby wines are heated in stainless steel tanks to produce a soft, caramel style. They are then matured for a further 2 years in satin wood.
Tasting note: Deep mahogany in colour with intense aromas of ripe fruit, spices, and caramel. On the palate, it is viscous and smooth with flavours of dried fruit, vanilla, and a touch of acidity that balances the sweetness.
Character: Dried fruit, caramel, vanilla.
