Grape info: Merlot’s soft, attractive fruitiness have seen it transplanted to almost every wine-growing country in the world. Approachable, with more mellow tannins than its traditional blending partners, Merlot tends towards flavours of plum jam, cherries and an occasionally herbaceous note.  

Info: Founded in the Tejo region and family-owned for more than a century, Fiuza Wines has become one of Portugal’s most recognisable modern wine producers. Based around the estates of Quinta da Granja and Quinta da Requeixada, Fiuza built its reputation by pioneering the use of international grape varieties alongside Portugal’s native grapes; an approach that continues to define the range today.

Tasting note: Rich yet approachable with aromas of ripe plum, black cherry and blackberry, complemented by subtle hints of spice. Smooth tannins and a rounded palate provide excellent balance, while fresh acidity brings lift and elegance to a long, fruit-driven finish.
