Cotto 12 Barriques Douro Tinto
Sweetness: Dry
Grape(s): Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz
Grape info: Portugal's flagship red grape, Touriga Nacional produces deeply coloured, full-bodied wines with intense aromas of blackberries, violets and herbs. Renowned for its firm tannins and ageing potential, it is the backbone of many premium Ports and is increasingly used to craft powerful, elegant dry red wines
Info: Quinta do Côtto is one of the Douro Valley's historic estates, with origins dating back to 1757 and a reputation as the birthplace of the first Douro DOC wines. Situated in the Baixo Corgo, its vineyards occupy steep schist slopes overlooking the Douro River, including many vines over a century old. Combining this exceptional terroir with modern winemaking under the guidance of David Baverstock and Vasco Rosa Santos, Quinta do Côtto produces elegant, age-worthy wines that express the freshness, finesse and heritage of the Douro.
Made from Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz, it is aged in oak barrels, adding complexity and harmony.
Tasting note: Deep ruby in colour, this Douro red combines ripe red and black fruit with notes of spice, vanilla and gentle toast. The palate is structured yet polished, with well-integrated tannins, good depth and a long, balanced finish.
Character: Blackcurrant, vanilla, spice.
